Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung, 2026
Video work
This work consists of a two-channel video showing two contrasting environments presented simultaneously: a beach scene and a snowy landscape. In the snow, the artist appears wearing a summer outfit, while at the beach she is dressed in winter clothing.
The inversion of appropriate dress codes creates a simple but effective visual disruption. Through this reversal, the work reflects on cultural conditioning, climate, and belonging, using humor as a central device.
Filmed in early 2026 in the Philippines and in Germany, the two scenes are presented in parallel. The work draws on the artist’s German-Filipino background, addressing the experience of moving between different environmental, cultural, and embodied contexts.
By staging the body in conditions it is not prepared for, the work points to the relativity of norms and expectations, and to the ways in which identity is negotiated between contrasting lived realities.
