Lettres à un passant, 2023-2024

Ink and Acrylic on Paper, 10.5 x 14.8 cm (more than 100 pcs.)

part of the body of work CONFESSIO

This work consists of over one hundred handwritten notes produced on fictional hotel stationery from the Grand Non-Lieu. Through the repetitive act of writing recurring thoughts addressed to an unnamed passerby, the work approaches writing as a process of release and distancing. The choice of hotel paper situates the text within transient, standardized environments, emphasizing anonymity, impermanence, and emotional displacement.

Lettres à un passant forms part of the larger body of work CONFESSIO. The fictional concept of the Grand Non-Lieu references the notion of the “non-place” as theorized by the anthropologist Marc Augé, describing spaces such as hotels or airports that lack relational or historical depth. Within this framework, the work questions the possibility and localization of meaningful encounters in spaces defined by transience and absence.
